The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is the largest network of construction professionals in the United States. The association offers educational and professional development resources and organizes events to advance the construction industry. Every year, the NAHB holds its annual International Builders’ Show (IBS), where thousands of visitors attend panel discussions, product launches, and industry workshops.
The NAHB will host the 2024 edition of the show on February 27-29 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The three-day event is open to both NAHB members and non-members as well as students and media professionals. Several networking events allow aspiring building professionals to connect with industry experts. For instance, the IBS Young Pro Party caters to residential construction professionals under 40, allowing them to exchange their expertise in an enriching environment.
Before the IBS begins on February 27, the NAHB offers educational one-day courses targeting attendees who want to upgrade their skills and better understand key industry topics. Upon completing the courses, these attendees earn NAHB continuing education units. The U40 Leadership Summit also takes place before the show, with panel discussions on topics such as artificial intelligence in building technology and best practices in project management.
The IBS features several product exhibits showcasing the latest trends and advances in building materials, construction systems, and business management services. The exhibits are organized into three halls based on the needs and interests of the show’s attendees. More than 1,300 companies will exhibit their work at the 2024 IBS. Over 200 international exhibitors representing 29 countries will participate.
In 2024, NAHB will be shedding light on critical topics in the building industry. The 60-minute Building Knowledge Sessions will cover nine educational tracks, including project management, multifamily housing, and custom building and remodeling. The custom building and remodeling track consists of 10 topics, such as Improving customer experience, turning key performance indicators into higher return on investment, and maximizing remodeling profitability.
Additionally, attendees have the opportunity to attend five Super Sessions that offer insights into the building industry. The 2024 Super Sessions will explore housing trends, the future of new home sales, home design ideas, and new building technologies. The last of these highlights 20 products and services exhibited at the show.
The IBS Learning Labs serve as fast-paced deep dives into cutting-edge topics. During these sessions, experts share their knowledge or moderate interactive discussions with attendees. On February 27, four specialists will lead a Learning Lab session on the impact of home tech on home design.
The event will feature two Demo Zones: construction performance and craft techniques. Live demonstrations in the construction performance zone will show best practices for building better homes. In the craft techniques zone, attendees can explore practical skills via hands-on interactive crafts.
The IBS regularly presents multiple awards to recognize and celebrate the achievements of construction professionals. The categories include Top Custom Home Builder of the Year, Professional Women in Building, and Global Innovation. Country singer Cole Swindell will headline the 2024 IBS closing concert on February 29.
